The planning regions of Connecticut are nowhere near the same size. Capitol Planning Region covers 1,027 sq mi of land, 7.3 times the 140.2 sq mi of Greater Bridgeport Planning Region. People are spread even less evenly: Greater Bridgeport Planning Region packs 2,409 per sq mi while Northwest Hills Planning Region holds 146 per sq mi.

Water is part of the picture too: 41.1% of Greater Bridgeport Planning Region is water, the most in the state, which is why its land area and total area disagree.
