Corrections are the messages we most want to receive.
Reporting a wrong figure
Email [email protected]. To get it fixed fastest, include:
- The page URL.
- Which figure is wrong, in the words the page uses for it.
- What you believe the correct value is, and where that comes from.
We will check it against the source file. If our processing introduced the error we fix it and the page's rebuild date changes. If the error is in the source data, we will say so and point you at the Census Bureau, who are the only people who can correct it.
Data requests
Every state map is downloadable as SVG, PNG and PDF, and every complete ranking table as CSV, from the downloads page. If you need something in a shape we do not publish, ask. We would rather add a file than have someone scrape the site for it.
For survey-accurate boundary geometry, go to the Census Bureau directly. Ours is simplified for display and is not suitable for measurement or legal use.
Press and research use
The figures on this site are public-domain federal data and you are free to use them. If you are citing a number in something that will be published, cite the underlying Census Bureau product rather than us: each page names it. If you need to confirm a vintage before publication, ask and we will confirm it.
What we cannot help with
We are not a county government and have no access to county records. For property records, tax bills, assessments, permits, court filings, vital records or jail information, contact the county directly. Every county page links to its official site where one exists.
We also cannot look up which county a specific address is in, resolve a property boundary dispute, or advise on where to live.
