Google Maps Embed Code Generator
Fill in a place or two endpoints, set the size, and copy the iframe. No API key is needed for the basic embed.
How to use it
- Choose what to embed: a place, directions between two places, or a view by coordinates.
- Type the place or addresses, then set the zoom, the map type and the size in pixels or percent.
- Press Generate. The iframe code appears with a preview under it.
- Copy the code and paste it into your page where the map should appear.
How it works
The tool builds the keyless Google Maps embed URL (google.com/maps with output=embed) and wraps it in an iframe with the size you chose. Nothing is sent anywhere until you press Generate, and then only the preview iframe loads from google.com.
This is the classic embed without an API key. It shows a road, satellite or terrain map with a marker or a route; it does not support custom styling, Street View or Places details, which need the Maps Embed API and a key.
Questions
- Do I need a Google Maps API key?
- No. The output=embed form of a Google Maps link works without a key. A key is only needed for the Maps Embed API, which offers extra modes such as Street View.
- Can I embed directions?
- Yes. Choose Directions, enter a start and a destination, and the iframe shows the route with the usual driving directions panel.
- Why does the preview show a slightly different view than my site?
- Google adjusts the framing to the iframe size. The zoom you set is the starting zoom; a wider iframe shows more of the map around the marker.
