Pin Drop Map
The map lives entirely in the URL, so sharing it is copying the address bar. Nothing is stored on a server.
How to use it
- Search a place, click the map, or paste a list of coordinates to add pins.
- Give each pin a label, a note and a colour in the list under the controls.
- Press Copy share link. Anyone who opens the link sees the same pins.
- Export the pins as CSV, GeoJSON or KML for a spreadsheet, GIS or Google Earth.
How it works
Every pin is written into the URL hash as latitude, longitude, label, note and colour, which is why the map needs no account and no server. A click on the map asks OpenStreetMap Nominatim for the nearest address to suggest a label; you can overwrite it.
The limit is 100 pins because browsers cap URL length and because a map with more pins than that is better made from a file with CSV to Map.
Questions
- Is my map private?
- The pins exist only in the link. Nobody can see them unless you share the link, and this site keeps no copy.
- Can I move a pin after dropping it?
- Remove it and drop it again, or edit its coordinates by pasting a corrected line. Dragging is not supported so that a stray touch cannot move a pin.
- What coordinate formats can I paste?
- Decimal degrees as "lat, lng" with an optional label after the second number. One pin per line.
